Pamela R. Schafer, M.D., is president and practicing psychiatrist for Del Mar Psychiatric Center in Del Mar, California. Dr. Schafer specializes in Consult-Liaison psychiatry providing psychiatric consultation to patients with physical medical disorders and serving as a liaison with their primary care providers. She also specializes in Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders and Adult AD/HD.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Schafer works with The Feighner Research Institute in Phase 2 clinical trials of new drug development. She also serves as the Medical Director for The StartUp Lab, Inc., a biotechnology venture development company.

Graduating with her Doctor of Medicine from North Dakota School of Medicine in 1979, Dr. Schafer completed two years of Family Practice residency at the UND Family Practice Center. In 1984, she spent two years working in laboratory research on cystic fibrosis. Dr. Schafer graduated from the University of Minnesota Psychiatry department in 1989. She is a member of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry, of which she is a founding member. Dr. Schafer is a board certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
